Page numbers are usually placed at
the top or bottom of each page of the manuscript, either in the center or right
side of the page.
- Open the file of your manuscript,
place the cursor to the left of the title of the manuscript.
- Click on LAYOUT
in the tool bar and select HEADER/FOOTER, NEW, as shown here:
- This opens the NEW
HEADER/FOOTER tool on top of the page.
- Select
HEADER A 1 by clicking on the radio button.
- Click OK
to close the NEW HEADER/FOOTER tool
.
- This will open a new UNTITLED
HEADER A page. This page contains the HEADER and LAYOUT tool bars, as shown in the following
example:
- To place the header text on the
right top margin of each page of the manuscript, click on the LAYOUT - justify toolbar - icon, and select
RIGHT justification, as shown below:
- This moves the cursor to the right
margin. Start typing the surname of the first author followed by "et al., Page <space>".
- To place sequential page numbers
on all pages of the manuscript, identify the HEADER tool bar cursor on the UNTITLED
HEADER A page:
- Then click on the page number
icon:
- You now have created a header
that appears on each page of the manuscript, as shown below:
- You can format the text of the header
by clicking on the FONT toolbar to
change the font type, size, etc. Close the Header A page to return to page viewing.
